Mifflin Family Papers

The Mifflin Family Papers collection consists of correspondence, notes, legal documents, poems, newspaper clippings, and photographs of the Mifflin family of Pennsylvania. The earliest items in the collection dates from 1714 with the bulk of the material covering the period from 1873 to 1921 which consist mostly of Lloyd Mifflin, Jr. (b. 1846 - d. 1921) items. The collection also includes a few photos, clippings and memorial program of Thomas Mifflin (b. 1744 - d. 1800), Major, Colonel, Brigadier and Major-General in the Revolutionary War and Governor of Pennsylvania (1790-1799). Additional material includes items from the Houston family (paternal family) and the Bethel family (maternal family). For more information, see the collection finding aid.
