News & Newspapers at the College Library

Welcome!

This guide is meant to serve as a hub for newspaper access at the College Library. On this front page you will find links to our most popular and commonly accessed news sources, including major sources of national and local news.

Lancaster Online

We have current access to Lancaster Online (LNP), as well as their Archives, which together cover from 1797 to present day.

New York Times

We have full access to the digital version of the New York Times, including current and archived editions, the Magazine, the Book Review, Games, Cooking, the Wirecutter, the Athletic, the NYTimes app and more. You can establish your F&M NYT account using the following steps:

Step 1: Go to accessnyt.com
Step 2: Enter "Franklin & Marshall College – Lancaster, PA”. You will be redirected to the NYT registration page.
Step 3: Click "Create Account" and complete the fields; use your @fandm.edu email address
Step 4: Verify your account (you will receive a confirmation email)

(Please note: If you previously registered your F&M email address on the NYTimes site, click the "Already have an account? - Log in here" link found below the "Create Account" button).

NYT content is also searchable via the ProQuest or Nexis Uni databases.

National Newspapers via Database

We have current access to the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post via ProQuest U.S. Major Dailies. U.S. Major Dailies is updated by 8AM EST every morning for current coverage.

Access to the Philadelphia Inquirer is provided via Newsbank (1981 to present for text; 2018 to present for images) and ProQuest (1860-2001), with links for each included below.

The Atlantic online

We now offer the full digital version of the Atlantic, including unlimited access to theAtlantic.com, live events, and their complete digital library. There is no separate account setup for this resource, but you can choose to sign up for topical newsletters, save stories, and other features.

Monde (Le)

We currently have online access from content in the French-language newspaper Le Monde from 1987 through the current issue. Note that we only have 1 user access via username and password. Click here for more information on how to access.
