Searching Archives and Special Collections

These help pages will answer commonly asked questions on navigating ArchivesSpace, which is the home for F&M's descriptive finding aids for Archives and Special Collections.

A Finding Aid is a document created by archivists that describes the contents of archival collections. It includes the history of a collection and the arrangement of the material. This helps patrons navigate through the contents and hopefully identify relevant research material.

With ArchivesSpace you can learn about our collections, decide what material you would like to request, and in some cases, view the digital object.

From the home page, one can search within both Archives and Special Collections:

To limit the search to either Archives or Special Collections, click on "Repositories" on the navigation bar and then select the desired repository:
