Each of you has been assigned a broad topic as a lens through which to answer the driving question, What can we learn from past societies to help us understand and confront contemporary environmental issues?

Although you have already "chosen" your topic, it is very likely that you will need to tweak and refine it in order to produce the kind of evidence you will need to support your argument. This refinement is part of the research process.
