Data produced by the U.S. Department of Education:

  • Institute of Education Sciences/IES:  "The nation’s leading source for rigorous, independent education research, evaluation and statistics."
     
    • National Center for Education Statistics/NCES:  "​​The primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations."
       
      • Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System/IPEDS: Access to a variety of surveys and programs available via the NCES.
         
      • DataLab: a platform of web-based tools that provide the public with access to data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
         
        • The Tables Library application is an online repository of over 8,000 data tables published by NCES that users can search to answer critical questions about education across the nation.
           
        • The PowerStats application provides access to over 100 NCES datasets and, through an interactive online interface, empowers users to generate custom statistical analyses and data visualizations. To use PowerStats, choose a dataset from the DataLab or PowerStats homepage and click the orange launch button.
           
      • Digest of Education Statistics:  Provides a compilation of statistical information covering the broad field of American education from pre-kindergarten through graduate school.
