The State Department's web site provides up-to-date information on American diplomatic efforts, policy issues, human rights practices, and much more.

Factual publications that contain information on all the countries of the world with which the United States has relations. They include facts on the country's land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy, and its relations with other countries and the United States.

The annual Country Reports on Human Rights Practices – the Human Rights Reports – cover internationally recognized individual, civil, political, and worker rights, as set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international agreements. The U.S. Department of State submits reports on all countries receiving assistance and all United Nations member states to the U.S. Congress in accordance with the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 and the Trade Act of 1974.

Book-length reports on 101 countries, with updated country profiles. The library owns the print copies of most of these reports.

The State Department provides online access to the volumes from 1950 through 1980, with some earlier material. This series contains diplomatic correspondence btween the State Department and U. S. embassies, as well as other previously classified documents.
