Tips for Readers

Guidelines for Readers

  1. The Reader must be respectful and must leave the Book in the same mental and physical condition as borrowed. It is forbidden to cause damage to the Book. The Reader is responsible for preserving the condition of the Book.
  2. The Reader accepts the fact that the Human Book can quit the conversation if he or she feels that the Reader is treating him or her in an inappropriate or disrespectful manner.
  3. The loan period is 20 minutes.
  4. The Reader cannot record, or videotape the Human Book.
  5. The Reader agrees to participate in follow-up surveys and other means of contact regarding this learning experience.

  • What experience has had the most impact on making you the person you are today?
  • What is a typical day like for you?
  • Why did you want to be a Human Book? What do you hope to accomplish?
  • Do you wish you could go back in time to change a decision you made? Any regrets?
  • What's a good thing happening in your life right now? What makes it good?
  • What were some of the more difficult aspects of your life? What made it difficult?
  • What do you do for fun?
  • Can you tell me three things about yourself that make you unique?
  • How do you deal with adversity?
  • Is there a community or a support system that you're a part of?
  • Do you have any advice for someone going through a situation similiar to yours?
