Primary Sources
Primary sources:
Provide first-hand or direct evidence about an event, object, person, or work of art.
Usually are from someone who had a direct connection to the original event, object, person, or work of art.
Examples include:
diaries or correspondence
original documents
interviews, speeches, and oral histories
creative art works
storytelling or creative podcasts
government documents or statistical information
Secondary Sources
Secondary sources:
Evaluate, criticize, analyze, comment, or interpret primary sources.
Usually attempt to analyze or describe primary sources.
Examples include:
journal articles that comment on or analyze primary resources/original research
textbooks
dictionaries and encyclopedias
political commentary
biographies
criticism of literature, art, or music
