Game Changers: Women in Film

September 2019 Screenings

Join the Center for the Sustainable Environment and the French Department for three screenings in the month of September! 

Center for the Sustainable Environment

The Center for the Sustainable Environment will kick off this year's Game Changers: Women in Film Festival with Sun Come Up, directed by Jennifer Redfearn (2011, 38 minutes), and The Last Animals, directed by Kate Brooks (2018, 1 hour 32 minutes). Both films will be shown in Weis College House Great Room at 7:00pm. Sun Come Up will be screened on Sunday, September 1st, 2019, and The Last Animals will be screened on Sunday, September 15th, 2019.

French & Francophone Studies

The French Department will also join in on the September fun with a screening of Too Black to be French, directed by Isabelle Boni-Claverie (2015, 52 minutes). This screening will take place in the Ware College House Great Room on Sunday, September 29th at 7:00pm

Please note that this film will be screened in French, with English subtitles.

October 2019 Screening

French & Francophone Studies 

French & Francophone Studies will continue the Game Changers Festival into October with their selection of the classic French film, Cléo from 5 to 7, directed by Agnès Varda (1962, 1 hour 30 minutes). Cléo will be shown in the Ware College House Great Room on Sunday, October 13th at 7:00pm. 

Please note that this film will be screened in French, with English subtitles.

November 2019 Screenings

Italian Studies & Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies

Jointly presented by the Italian Studies and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies departments, there will be two film screenings in the month of November. 

First up is Sworn Virgin, directed by Laura Bispuri (2015, 1 hour 30 minutes). This film will be shown on Sunday, November 3rd at 7:00pm in the Bonchek College House Great Room

Second is Just Like My Son, directed by Constanza Quatriglio (2018, 1 hour 43 minutes). This film will be shown on Tuesday, November 19th, 2019 at 7:00pm in the Bonchek College House Great Room. There will be a panel discussion following this film. 

Please note that both screenings will be in Italian, with English subtitles.

December 2019 Screening

The College Library

Celebrate the end of semester with the Franklin & Marshall College Library's first film pick, A League of Their Own. 

A League of Their Own, directed by Penny Marshall (1992, 2 hours 8 minutes), will be screened on Tuesday, December 3rd at 7:00pm in the Academy Room at the Shadek-Fackenthal Library, and treats will be served! Please bring your own (non-alcoholic, please) beverage. 

Please note that this film will be screened with English closed captioning.
