ENG 174: Follow a Footnote

Citation for a Journal Article

Here's an example of a journal article found in the Academic Search Complete database:

Here's how that citation would look when it is formatted (CBE style):

formatted CBE style

The main way to tell that this is a journal article citation is the fact that there are two titles - the title of the article, and the title of the journal or periodical. A journal citation will also always list the volume and/or issue numbers of the journal where the article is found.

Important Note!

The example citations in this tutorial are each formatted according to a different style guide. Do not use them to format your citations. Consult the manual for the citation style your professor prefers instead.
