Research Resources: Class Guides

Library Catalog: Excellent starting point to find book and periodical resources found in the libraries. Try searching subjects like fisheries and fishes.
AGRICOLA: Over 2.9 million records covering every major agricultural subject. Compiled by the National Agricultural Library of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Biological Abstracts: A comprehensive reference database covering life sciences journal literature. Covers 2003 to the present.
General Science Full Text: Journals and magazines from the U.S. and Great Britain, covering all major scientific fields. Indexing from 1984 to present, abstracting from 1993 to present. Corresponding print title is General Science Index.
GEOBASE: More than 500,000 records covering international literature on geology, geography, and ecology. Covers 1980 to present.
Web of Science (ISI): The Institute of Scientific Information's premier citation databases in the physical, life, and social sciences. Search for articles that cite a known author or work or by standard search queries. Covers 1980 to the present.
Lexis-Nexis Academic: Connections to full-text newspaper articles from US and international papers, news magazines, business publications, and legal resources. Coverage goes back at least 20 years for most titles.
NewsBank: Full-text access to major U.S. and international newspapers, including the Philadelphia Inquirer, Los Angeles Times, and Chicago Tribune. Coverage varies, 5 to 20 years.

AccessScience: Full access to more than 7100 articles, 115,000 definitions, 2,000 biographies, and research advances in science and technology. Updated daily.
Annual Reviews: Search by "table of contents." Coverage from 1984 - 1995. Search abstracts only. Coverage from 1990 -1993. Search the full-text of current volumes (1996 - present).
BioOne: Searchable full text aggregation of more than 60 bioscience research journals. The titles are published by scholarly societies and have formerly been available in print. Access to individual journal titles can also be found on the Biology "by Subject" page.
JSTOR: A collection of abstracts and articles from over 100 scholarly journals considered primary representatives of their disciplines. The General Science and Ecology sections are expecially relevant. Choose PRINT from within JStor to print articles at proper margin settings. You may need go to SET PREFERENCES to select desired Printing preferences. Be aware that JStor articles can take a long time to print. WilsonSelect: Indexes and abstracts over 800 English-language periodicals in all subject areas, and provides the full-text of all the articles.

GPO Monthly Catalog: Over 380,000 records on all subjects of interest to the U.S. government. Covers July 1976 to the present.
GPO Access: Links to current laws, bills, regulations, Supreme Court cases, and more US Government information.
