A 2-volume set (published in 1982 and 1993) that gives an excellent overview of the history of science in the U.S. Books, journals, and documents are covered. A separate chapter on "Biology and the Biomedical Sciences" is most useful for this course.

This collection includes first editions of scientific works from the beginning of printing to the early 20th century. Later editions have been added when notable or extensive changes were made. The collection also contains early scientific textbooks and rare, out-of-print biographies of scientists, and bibliographical collections relative to the history of science, and the histories of individual sciences. Items are mainly in English, French, German, Latin and Italian, and some works in other languages are also included.
