Catastrophic Relief Alliance
at
Franklin & Marshall College
- The CRA is a student
run group at Franklin and Marshall College that organizes and participates
in multi-day trips to areas of the country that have been afflicted by
natural disasters.
- The Gulf Coast area
is still in need of volunteer work to rebuild form the devastating affects
of recent hurricanes.
- This group has
participated in 6 rebuilding trips to the South since Hurricane Katrina
and Ike and therefore we have firsthand experience of the necessity of
further efforts.
- We typically rely on
fundraising and donations from individuals and businesses in order to fund
these trips.
- The typical group
size is 20 students and the average cost per trip is around $6,000.
- The money is mainly
used for transportation to the area and we rely on local organizations to
provide housing arrangements.
- We are currently in
the process of planning a trip to Galveston for January 6-14, 2010.
- If you would be interested in helping out this cause
in any way, your support would be greatly appreciated!
