Dickens, Charles (1812-1870) Memoirs of Joseph Grimaldi 2 vols. London: Richard Bentley, 1838.
First edition of Dickens' edited and largely ghost written Memoirs of the famous 19th-century British clown/entertainer Joseph Grimaldi. Illustrations by George Cruikshank. Mid-twentieth century Cosway-style binding by Bayntun-Riviere with inlayed portrait on ivory of a young Charles Dickens in Vol. 1 and inlayed colored leather portrait of Grimaldi in Vol. 2.

London: Imprinted for the Company of Stationers, 1636. This small personal psalter is bound in silver thread embroidered silk and is an example of 17th century English embroidered binding.
