Dated at Harrisburg, Sept. 15, 1862

To Col. Jno. A. Wright

Genl. McClelan[sic] just telegraphed the Governor that he achieved a splendid victory yesterday afternoon and that rebel army for Shepardstown, Va.[?] in perfect panic with his army in pursuit that he McClellan has full possession of South Mountain range.  If any damage is done to Franklin Road the General wants it repaired immediately as his supplies must go over it if possible for the large cavalry force at Greencastle to move they could do much good in harassing the enemy and in capturing prisoners.  We shall send you troops as fast as possible.  Will you forward your infantry from Chambersburg to Hagerstown this P.M.?  Answer.
