Dated at Greencastle,
Sept. 15, 1862
To Col. Jno. A. Wright,
A.D.C.
I would like to have
eight (8) more cars here immediately to take our infantry to Hagerstown. They can aid our cavalry at Funkstown
and cut off wagons & stragglers on the road thence to Sharpsburgh &
Williamsport. The enemy are
perfectly demoralized. Please send
the cars immediately. I have sent
telegraphic operator to Hagerstown—the rest of our infantry should come
on immediately to Hagerstown.
