Dated at Greencastle,
Sept. 13th 1862
To Col. Jno. A. Wright
Cannot
something be done to provide our remaining seven hundred (700) men of Anderson
Troop with horses immediately? I
have not enough to relieve me and they are all on picket tonight again & will
will[sic] have to be until I get reinforced. What is the objection to sending one hundred (100) of my
dismounted out for 10 & 20 miles in the country and seizing seven hundred
(700) horses immediately. Another
of our pickets on state line, an Anderson Trooper, was captured this afternoon
by a dozen Rebels who made a sudden dash on him on the old Greencastle
road. The regular taken this
morning was released on parole.
