Major General Reynolds,

General,

The Commanding General directs me to say that you will camp in the vicinity of Berea Church, that you will move to the support of General Meade who holds the line from Banks to Kelly’s Ford, or to Genl. Birney, who will hold the line from Kelly’s to Beverly Ford, as circumstances may require.

Put yourself in telegraphic communication with Head Quarters, and with Generals Meade and Birney, the latter at Bealton, the former near Grove Church.

Orders concerning your pickets will be sent upon receipt of your reply as to number of men, &c.

Very respectfully, Yr. Obt. Servant,

Daniel Butterfield,

Major Genl. & Chief of Staff
