From Fort Lyon

To Genl. McCall

I have a report from the front of Genl. Hickox Brigade, that the enemy is advancing in heavy force—cavalry, infantry, and artillery. I have sent a battery of artillery and two (2) regiments of Infantry to support the advance guard. All is quiet on the Telegraph Road.
