How to Use this Website

This website was designed on Macintosh computers using Microsoft Internet Explorer software and Cumulus 5.5 image management software. All images were scanned using an Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner and Epson SmartPanel software. Every attempt has been made to accommodate other browsers and operating systems, but some views may appear less than ideal. The site is best viewed at default Mac/Explorer browser settings. Any questions or suggestions can be sent to project director Christopher Raab at craab@fandm.edu

Special note for PC users: The newer versions of Internet Explorer may automatically resize images to fit your screen. When selecting a date or title to enlarge a particular image, the enlarged image may resize to fit your screen upon completion of loading. If this occurs, you can further increase the image to its intended size by moving your mouse to the lower, right-hand corner of the image, and selecting the hover button that appears stating "Expand to regular size."

Additional information on scanning: All images were scanned as 600 dpi black and white images and saved as .tif (TIFF) files. Working images were then created as high quality .jpg (JPEG) files and imported into the Cumulus image management software. Once imported, the .jpg images were re-sized to 20% of their original size, and exported as html files using the Cumulus software. During the html conversion process, .jpg thumbnail images were automatically created for each image. The end result is two images per item scanned - one .jpg thumbnail image, and one larger image (20% of the original) hyperlinked through the item date or title. Original full-sized TIFF and JPEG files of each scan have been archived on DVD, and placed with the Reynolds Family Papers.
