Camp Pierpont, Va.
December 25, 1861
My dear Sisters,
I have just had a
note from John Duncan. He says he
will be in Washington next week.
If you can send by train my fur collar, one pair of those Pants (the
best pair), and three pair of Canton flannel Drawers so I will be certain to
get them you will greatly oblige me.
No news here of
special interest since I wrote last.
A happy Christmas to all at home.
I wish I could be with you but I shall spend mine in Camp. The Gen'ls all dine with McCall today
where we will fight the battle of Drainsville over again. I have not seen Ord since the fight to
have a talk about it, with him. So
I suppose we will have a chance to hear all the particulars today, over the
Gen'ls time.
I see by the Phila.
papers an arrival from California but have seen no list of passengers yet.
Love to all
& believe me
Your affectionate
Brother
