Dear Jim,
We are all very much disappointed that you did not make your appearance here at Christmas. Hope you had as pleasant a day as we have had.
Sam has told me you have promised to have a settlement with the girls &c. Monday week. I want to say that in view of my prospects for Utah in the spring I would be very glad if you will include me in the same. I would not like to go away so far again & not know something about estate, and the means the girls may have to depend upon. I cannot I fear be present in L. at that time, as I will have to be in Washington immediately after the holidays but would take it as an especial favor if you will give me a statement of how I stand in the settlement of Father’s estate.
Yours affectionately,
John F. Reynolds
