Philadelphia, July 11, 1863

In a note just received from my brother Lt. Rosengarten he mentions that “the sword, belt and cap of Genl. Reynolds were brought off the field by Sergeant Jones of Co. F., 14th Brooklyn 2d. Brigade, 1st Division, 1st Corps, who handed them to McClure of Genl. Wadsworth’s staff and he will send them to the family with the old Corps flag.”

My brother adds that Major Riddle, Captains Weld, Mitchell, and himself have been ordered to report to Genl. Newton for the present.

We had a letter yesterday from my brother Frank of Captain Landis’ battery who reports the company at Chambersburg on the 9th.

Regretting that I am unable to call in order to give you the above information, I remain.

With respect, yours, &c.

H.B. Rosengarten
