To Genl. O.O. Howard,

Genl. Reynolds has been assigned to the command of the First, Third, & Eleventh Army Corps.

The commanding Genl. directs that you at once send a staff officer to report to Genl. Reynolds at or in the vicinity of Edward’s Ferry or that you move your own command in the direction of Middletown instead of Sandy Hook. Answer.
